Welcome to Simply Healthy Bodies!
"Life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans." ~John Lennon
Hello! My name is Audrey Gregis. I am a Certified Integrative Health Coach and the founder of "Simply Healthy Bodies." I hope you enjoy your stay and learn more about your own health along the way. I have tried to create my site as an educational website. It’s easier to make changes when you understand WHY.
My journey into holistic health began when I was 22 years old. I read a book called "Sugar Blues" and my life took a very different direction with health. Unfortunately, that direction looked like a roller coaster, as I went up, down, and back around.
Like so many people, I struggled through many obstacles in my life, both personal and health related. I realized that each obstacle was a learning experience, and with each experience I made small changes in my nutrition and my mental outlook.
You could say I've learned everything the hard way! And, I thank God for that every day — because it helps me relate to what others may be experiencing.
Now, at the age of 70, I have learned so much over those decades and am passionate about sharing it. I am often going down rabbit holes researching anything that is health related, even entering the world of dog, cat and horse health.
I have a family history of heart disease and arthritis. My grandfather had a heart attack on my wedding day after giving me away, then passed later that evening.
Years later, my mother had six-bypass surgery, and still not changing her diet, she eventually lost her leg, then passed away from congestive heart disease. I should add, the surgeon told me my mother’s heart was the size of a basketball, one of the worst hearts he had ever seen.
I watched many in my family suffer with debilitating arthritis. I knew that following a healthy lifestyle was important to prevent me from becoming another statistic.
I have dubbed myself “The Healthy Aging Coach,” because I believe we can be healthy, looking younger than our true age with each passing decade. We do not have to be another statistic in our family, nor believe "it's in our genes." We all have genes. It depends on what we put in our mouth, whether we turn those genes on, or we turn them off.
My children have had their health challenges, as well. My middle son was diagnosed with Celiac Disease 20+ years ago, and a few years later with a gene for Reactive Arthritis (HLA B27), which led into gout. My other two children have each had their own health issues with gluten. They all have dairy sensitivities, as I do. And at least one of them has also dealt with Asthma, Rosacea, or Psoriasis. I was often told by the medical profession that there was nothing they could do. Each time, I have proven those doctors wrong. Today, my children are healthy, vibrant adults.
For the women out there — have you ever been told "you will never lose that 10 pounds of menopausal weight" myth. It really is a myth. Not only did I lose that menopausal weight, but I have lost all three dress sizes without dieting. I found the foods that were right for my body and did some intermittent fasting. Trust me, it isn’t hard! Now, eating a Carnivore diet, makes losing weight even easier.
I have also learned about oxalates (the worst of the plant anti-nutrients) hiding in many of our greens, veggies and supposed “super foods.” I have learned that veggies with seeds are actually fruits. I have learned to eat fruits only when they are “in season.” And, because I do include some fruits, while they are in season, I consider myself a “relaxed” Carnivore. There is nothing better to build a healthy body, healthy skin, healthy brain, feel stronger, and be more grounded than eating meat!
Over a decade ago, I started researching the importance of minerals. They are the spark plugs of our body. After all, we are electrical beings. Electrolytes are minerals! I learned how mineral deficiencies affect our health in so many ways. After seeing dramatic results with my own health at 55, I was fascinated and wanted to learn even more.
So, at age 58, I went back to school. I attended Institute for Integrative Nutrition, a school that encompassed all that I believed, to take the next step in my health journey.
Since I have discovered over the years that good health isn’t complicated, this is how “Simply Healthy Bodies” was born. I continue adding industry changing products that follow that philosophy today, because life is already way too busy.
On a more personal note . . . Originally from Maryland, I lived in Southern Pennsylvania for 37 years, then moved Westward to Texas three years ago. I am the mom of three adult children. I somehow ended up with the 2yo wild-caught Mustang I adopted for my daughter 16 years ago from the hills of Nevada, who isn't very wild anymore. I’ve been a confessed horse nut since the age of 8, so when my daughter lost interest in horses, I had to know Annie would always have a good home. In my spare time, you might find me crocheting a blanket, or some other kind of craft, or spending time with Mustang Annie teaching her new tricks. In the spring and summer, I find every opportunity to get out into the sunshine, walking in the morning, maybe doing some hiking, as well as getting back into riding. After spending the last three years in Northeast Texas, I might change my mind about not liking the cold weather and snow! Wow, Texas summers bring a whole new meaning to “Hotter then Hades!” I see a move back to the Northeast in my very near future.
I am so glad you took the time to stop by! If you find something that sparks your interest, we can get together and chat.
Healthy wishes!
